I am in the Philly suburbs, and our builder gave us a quote of almost $18K for adding 17 steps with landing from a second-story Trex deck (see attached). Researching online, I see that steps cost roughly $50-120 per step (but I have no idea if this is accurate), so the quote seems a bit high, even with the additional deck area. They also want about $22K for a 450 sq ft Techo Bloc paver patio (also seems high). Would love some expert insights on this.

Also, if I were to add the stairs after closing, will it be complicated and incur more cost then just adding them when the deck is built? If I don't do stairs, then the deck would just be closed off with a railing.
