Hi Ann. Just spent an hour or two reading through your post. What fun! I gather you are under some pressure to decide on paint colours. You narrowed your choice for the house down to two colours, but you seem to feel one of them is much more blue when it's actually painted on the wall. I had the same fear when I tested paint in my living room. I realized that the existing wall colour (which was a gold/beige) wasn't bleeding through the paint test so much as it was "reflecting" a hue over the sample. It's possible that's what's happening here.
As for the guest bedroom, you have so many treasures in there. I can see you tried to marry a lot of them in this space, but they are fighting each other. I think a room of this size can only have one, maybe, two stars. Sorry! Sound familiar? Weren't you telling me just last week to de clutter? :) It may be difficult to choose, but I think if you made one item the star, it would show so much better. I would choose between the prayer rug and the print on the pillow and chair. Then you can choose a paint colour. Personally, I wouldn't buy any more art. I understand the need for a full length mirror, and I like it between the two doors, but the frame looks "off" to me in this room. If I were to buy anything new, I would reframe the mirror or replace it altogether. Again... I think it fights the other pieces in this space. If you have any energy left, I would love to see a picture of the room without the rug or without the printed fabric. I would also take a shot of the bed centred. You're probably right! It will likely make the room feel too tight, but try it. What have you got to lose! The paint choice will be easy once the colours are pared down, and you are confident with the furniture arrangement.
