Yes, lose the red and replace with cooler, hipper color. Walls are quite warm in tone also. Suggest you switch to roll up shades to update your look and switch out your color palette to something you like that is less heavy in appearance. Lightning the feel of the room for a new look. Retain the furniture and switch out or re-cover the pillows to your new color scheme.

Lighten the walls and curtains - choose one of the light colors from the rug to work with. Can you rework the floor to unify the choppy change in flooring? Hi, I do think you could go for a subtle print on the window dressing, It would be too plain otherwise, if you have roman blinds they will be up for the most part so you wouldn't be bombarded with pattern. Even a herringbone or fleck of some kind would look great.
