Living room layout ideas for townhouse

I'm looking for ideas on how to place furniture in my living room. Attached are the photos so you can see the space I have to work with. I will be purchasing new furniture. The trouble I'm having is I only have one large wall to work with, so I feel I have to either put the TV or sofa there and then the other against the railing. I have a toddler so I bad concerns about putting the sofa against the railing. The room is small but I feel like the current layout isn't making the most of this space. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

The problem in the photo seems to be that all the elements seem to accentuate the long narrow shape of the room..perhaps think of two smaller seating areas where furniture can be more vertical to the walls in cozier groupings...

I think that the (listing?) photo shows about the best arrangement, although if space permits, I'd love to add a small chair at either end of the rug space for more conversational possibilities. Is your front door behind that wardrobe cabinet?!? If this is the second floor, then definitely use that corner as part of this room... (The scale is very hard to judge as well, given all the fish-eye photos! The room is either very long and thin, or rather small and square...)

How would you use the room right off of the kitchen and also place furniture in the dining and living area
