If you do a grey wall, nice dark brown or black furniture will go well. Definitely look for clean, sleek, and minimalist furniture if the room is smaller. White sheets with hints of grey or black will also make the space brighter and more open. Finally, a sleek modern over head light or recessed lighting will make the space feel new too!

Has he moved out to college or his own place? If not, I'd wait him out.

Wait until he is in at least his second year of college before you do anything. It is not like he needs anything done to it. If that is as messy as he gets, your good!

When I was 17, I couldn't stand my mother touching anything in my room! I rearranged furniture every few months to suit myself.

Our last of three sons at home is 17 and under an ocean of debris it's hard to tell what's in his room.

At the least, ask him what he wants or will tolerate. (Unless, of course, you're selling your home.)
