I'm sure we'll see more posts. We are finishing the basement,,it will be a while until done. In the meantime, I am looking for pendants, sconces and the rest...found some really nice MCM style..just need to decide which way we'll go.

For the bathroom, I am debating between pendants and sconces. So far, for the pendants, I like these: First is from Evie group. Second is FLOS (they have ceiling light and sconces in the same collection).

For the bar area, I'm still looking,,for now, I have saved these ones from Niche

Thanks libra! I thought about that, too..I need to see which tile I will use as the backsplash...the one we looked at has a metallic shin to it (Porcelanosa Tissue gold). The bar will have the back wall like in this photo (wood will be walnut, counter white quartz). I want to make sure I don't mix too many metallic colors..

I'm a very undecided person:) I look at everything and then try to decide...tough to work with a Libra like me:)
For the bathroom, I was planning to do either a cream porcelain tile or something towards gray/blue. I found this large tile that is a cream and has some golden speckles in it that are very understated (I will have to go again to the store to get the name...mu husband took a photo, but his phone is not working at the moment). There is also the Eramosa tile that comes in different shades of gray and cream. The vanity will be walnut and an the sink white (similar to 2nd photo).

There is also this bathroom that I like..all white( 1st photo)

Thanks Jen for the input. I will see which tile we decide on and then go from there. At the moment, I am still trying to find a tile for the bar backsplash. The one my husband liked seems too dark and it will blend in with the shelving. I was going to get a white tile, but the Quartz torquay that will be for the counter has some cream in it that I didn't see at first..

Aaaa, I spent an hour reading the last half of this thread, hadn't seen it before. Hope my wonderful cooperative computer can load the first half next time. Loving all the pretties and you know so much.

I was all about country clutter then in a dreary thrift store saw a Bassett Tempo buffet in a beam of light. Uh oh, change of decor coming up. After over a decade the house is mostly MCM/DM clutter now. The best find was a complete 1956 American by Martinsville bedroom set as the dressers together precisely fit their space. I had about given up on finding something to fit that very day.

My mystery china cabinet from my dear MIL was apparently American made because the only marking is a faded stamp of United Brotherhood of Carpenters but I have names for most of my pieces.

Am at the end of a painting spree, have repainted and am re slipcovering and now shopping for a rug as this one is the wrong shape and size. Amazing how much trouble one gets in after a couple gallons of paint go on the walls.

A couple of quick and dirty photos. The entry hall was redone in less than a week this past summer, the Sote bird painting from my sister's FIL was such an inspiration the old shelf was moved and new shelf built and put together in less than a week. Still working on what needs to be on it as you can see!

Finally bought a true MCM home with all its quirks and all its great windows and natural light. Sprawling 2000 sf 2 bedroom ranch.

Could use some help with knowing how to place furniture in the livingroom with one and a half walls.

The foyer is 7x20 and the livingroom is 20x20 separated by a centered 10' brick fireplace wall that encroaches into the living room leaving 16.5x20 feet for furniture with a 5' walkway on either side of the fireplace wall. The wall across from the fireplace has a 10' double sliding glass door. The wall on the kitchen side of the living room is open to the dining area - 8' opening.

I don't want to put my tv over the fireplace and I want to place the Benny Lindon hutch that matches my dining room table in the livingroom - the dining space is not large enough to place it in the dining room.

Any great ideas on where to place the TV - 5' wide, the hutch 5' wide and seating for 4 or 5 people that can be used for Movie nights.

I own a 7' gondala sofa that I am having reupholstered, but it can go into the living room or into a 12x16 sitting room off of the master bedroom.
