We moved from Northern California to San Diego so finding a team with little experience knowing who to turn to for our remodeling project was unknown waters. John provided his plan for equipment and installation and successfully delivered 110% on what he said he would do. The quality of his work installing a complete sound system with in wall speakers required some creativity and determination—and the final results sound and look clean and professional. His recommendation to install a Sonos audio system is not only great sound but the functionality and flexibility is enabling us to get more enjoyment from the end to end system that he installed.

We just moved into the area and got a referral from our realtor for AV Consulting to set up our music and TV equipment. John helped procure some new equipment (TV and sonos) and set it all up. He got good prices on the new equipment and installed all the equipment, wall mounted our other tvs throughout the house, including some repositioned electrical outlets. He and his partner, John, worked well together and did a very professional job just as he had planned. Great job, John.

I had a project that I was working on with another contractor at our house for months. Not only did I spend countless of wasted hours , I also wasted money trying to get the project done with the previous contractor. I decided to to let John give it a try and not only was his price fair he got the job done in two visits! He knew exactly what I needed and set me up so that it didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out how to turn our project on! I will never use any other contractor!

When we began our complete condo remodel both designer and contractor urged us to hire an A/V specialist early in the process to ensure speakers, TV and wireless access were planned along with the construction. To be honest, given the expense of the project, the small footprint of the condo and our limited experience with surround sound, we were inclined to simply put a sound bar below the TV, get a couple of Bose speakers for our iPhones, and leave it at that. We met with John Walker, owner of A/V Consulting, who designed a complete system of ceiling speakers, subwoofer, TVs with surround sound and a universal remote to control video and audio in three zones. He worked with us to stay within our budget and, as we thought more about it, we ended up upgrading our speakers. We are so happy we worked with John and built in this system. We are in our sixties and have never had sound like this. We are giddy with excitement over the quality of music throughout our home, the crispness of the TV picture and sound, and the ability to stream easily with a universal remote or our iPhones. The sound system is the capstone of a beautiful new home, and it was designed by John specifically with our needs and desires in mind. John is very accommodating and patient as we learn to use the new system and responsive when we have questions. We highly recommend A/V Consulting.

John Walker has managed the installation of all our media center upgrades for the past 10 years. Based upon these multiple experiences, I wouldn't dream of using anyone else for many reasons. First of all, his advice of what components to buy and what components to avoid has always been right on target. Specifically, he has always helped me to avoid spending more money than I need to in order to get the desired result. He has helped me to avoid the latest "hyped" product when it was too early perhaps to reap the benefits of the new technology. He isn't afraid to talk me out of something that I was strongly considering, and I've learned as a result to totally trust his judgement. At one point, we were experiencing problems with WIFI coverage in the house because of decisions our family made of what routers to buy. I had originally thought that because of the size of our house and signal interference perhaps we needed even more "commercial" robust routers to solve our problem. John was able to talk me out of needing to go in that direction and totally solved our WIFI problem. I've learned from experience to go with what John recommends and that saves me hours of research and delivers the desired results every time.

I have had John Walker at A/V Consulting doing my A/V work for so long, I sort of forget how long it has actually been. If I really stop and think, it has probably been 15 years or more. John takes painstaking pride in his work, no matter the size of the task. We did a major home renovation 5 years ago, with John rewiring the entire house for TV, computer, radio, satellite radio, CD, DVD, & Apple TV, with 6 zones, and prep for more zones, if I ever decide to expand. This was all difficult work, that John did, and my wife and I continue to enjoy his mastery of his craft. If I need something, I just call John.

We moved down to San Diego from the Bay Area and purchased a house in Rancho Santa Fe. The previous homeowner recommended John Walker and A/V Consulting to handle the audio, video and control system. The house had previously had a Crestron control system in it, so we replaced with the same. We are not very technology oriented and were worried that the system would be too complicated. We could not have been more wrong. John worked with us to design the system that would do exactly what we wanted. We use iPads to control the entire system, including audio, video, heating/cooling, and security. It’s great and we we really enjoy using it. We then had a surveillance system installed which, again, we can access from any device from anywhere. Above all, John and his staff have been incredibly responsive to any issues and have provided top notch customer service Just this last year we completed a substantial remodel and addition to the house which included a full theme theater. John and his crew did an amazing job designing the perfect system for us and now our theater is our favorite room in the house. It really is better than going to any movie theater, and it’s right in our house. We would highly recommend A/V Consulting to anyone!
