We hired Rob to do our kitchen renovation and replace our old flooring throughout the house. In addition to the updated kitchen, we took down walls, replaced windows and door openings, tore out all the flooring in the house, and more. He is by far the best contractor we have ever hired. Great communication, always checking in on site, and his subs were all wonderful to work with. He is professional, punctual, and takes care of any issues that arise on site immediately. Cannot say enough good things!

NC Custom Construction completed a kitchen, two bathroom and laundry room renovation. The project was on time, on budget and resulted in new living spaces that we love. Rob is detailed oriented, communicates well and wants to provide a quality product.

I hired Rob (North Carolina Custom Construction) to build an in- law suite on the side of my house. From the beginning of the project to the end, Rob and Vance were professional and kind. When we were planning the design, Rob would kindly point out much better alternatives to ideas that I had. I’m glad we went with his design ideas and not mine. He has a great eye for the finished product, and the in law sweet came out beautiful. I have worked with other contractors in the past and there is no comparison to the professionalism and curtesy that Rob and Vance both extended to me and my family during the build. As with any project there are going to be issues. However, Rob and Vance were always quick to address any concerns. It was one of the best work relationships I have ever had. Rob and his team made a stressful time, much easier, and I learned quickly I could trust them to do things right. I would not hesitate to hire North Carolina Custom Construction again.

We would choose Rob Golder’s North Carolina Custom Construction again for renovation/remodel jobs for our house. Rob was easy to work with. Workmanship was excellent, scheduling compatible with our plans, work accommodated to our wishes, coordinated with the design team, and each segment completed in a reasonable time. Subcontractors were courteous and careful. And the payment schedule was fair and clear. The project was a complete remodel of the kitchen to make it more attractive and functional, a result achieved. The Project Manager was regularly on-site and easy to communicate and work with. He communicated with subcontractors and acquired materials as needed. There were many elements of the project: (1) All cabinets and counters were first removed and saved for donation or discarded. (2) Non-refrigerator old appliances were removed. (3) Ceiling popcorn was removed and spackling done while the floor and adjacent rooms were protected. (4) Under-cabinet airflow vents were constructed. (5) Kitchen plumbing was disconnected to install a line under the floor for a new refrigerator at the opposite side of the room. (6) The circuit breaker panel was reconfigured and a second panel installed. (7) Wiring was run for appliances, ceiling lights, sockets, and under-counter lighting, requiring work in a challenging attic and crawl space- which was done effectively and cheerfully. (8) Backsplash tile was installed, with design input from the installer. (9) Hardwood flooring was installed where there had been none and was matched in type and stain to the existing flooring, as was chair rail. (10) The window sill was modified to accommodate the new faucet and sink. (11) Exposed walls were painted. The work perfectly complemented and coordinated with that done by Kitchen and Bath Galleries, who installed cabinets/crown molding/baseboard and shoe molding, countertop, and appliances. We and visitors are very pleased with the process and outcome for this job, transforming an ageing kitchen into a bright, attractive culinary environment.

The first time I met Rob, I knew he was the contractor for our kitchen and powder room renovation. He was methodical when looking around our house, which was built in the 1920s- I could tell immediately that he was knowledgeable and dependable. He and the project manager, Vance, were both attentive and helped to answer my questions promptly. Because we live in an old house, there were unplanned issues that we encountered but Rob always came up with a solution, even helping with design ideas. We lived in the house during the construction process, and Rob and his team were very respectful about cleaning up daily. The project is complete, and I could not be happier- I love my new kitchen and powder room and am thrilled with the results. Rob has come back promptly following the renovation for punch list items. I would not change one thing about our new space, thanks to all of Rob’s help!

Rob and NC Custom Construction did a fantastic job on our bed/bath addition. The project involved converting a large covered balcony (over a living space) into a bed/bath with a surrounding balcony/walkway. Not much about this project was ordinary-- lots of commercial-type materials and finishes. Every contractor I interviewed had a completely different take on the solution. Rob was quick to provide value in some of his initial impressions and advice, but his follow-through with research and proposals are what really impressed us. He was very willing to entertain new ideas of doing stuff, diligently researching some of our own suggestions, and providing unbiased feedback. Throughout construction they provided excellent communication and workmanship. Rob and Vance were always an easy phone call away. They did great work themselves and stayed on top of the subs to do great work also. I can't recommend them enough!

Kitchen Remodel - We worked with Rob (owner) and his NC Custom Construction team in the spring of 2018 to remodel our kitchen, transform a closet into a mudroom, and update a 1/2 bath. Full remodel included demolition, electrical updates, plumbing, new gas lines run, new floors, new cabinets, and custom carpentry work in the kitchen closets and mudroom. Rob was great throughout the various phases including planning and scoping out the job. There were multiple rounds of meetings and Rob took the time to walk through what we wanted before the contract was executed. During construction, timelines were created and expectations set for when the various trades would be working on the different parts of the project. I have to say communication was excellent throughout the process, which cannot be underestimated when you are not able to use your kitchen for 3 months. Some of the painting decisions were a little rushed, but overall I appreciate being able to pick up the phone and talk through items with Rob directly. Hiring Rob was the best decision we made in the entire process. Highly recommend!

Rob did an entire Kitchen Re-Do in a relatively new home that we built in 2015. His work was on time--and he was very easy to work with. His price was fair and he stood behind his work, any minor imperfections were remedied without any sort of arguement.

We were very pleased with the work Rob and his team did on our home. They provided us with an accurate estimate of the job (new master bath and laundry) at the outset and then stuck to the budget and adjusted accordingly throughout the process as we made changes. His team was always accessible to answer questions on any item at any time of day and always took the time to explain how the change requests would impact the timing/cost/completion of the job. The attention to detail was truly exceptional and there was not one item that was not completed 100% to our once the job was completed. We are very happy with the remodel of our 40 year old home by North Carolina Custom Construction, LLC. It was an extensive remodel of half the house including taking down walls, new flooring etc. Communication was key since we were living in the other half of the house. Rob was always there when he said he would be and was always accessible by phone if we needed him. Rob takes pride in his work and we would recommend him for any size project. We love the results! We have used NC Custom Construction for two different homes we have owned in Raleigh. The first project was remodeling 2 bathrooms and the kitchen in 2010, which showed us Rob's meticulous attention to detail and workmanship. In 2016, we decided to downsize and used Rob to totally renovate the interior and exterior of a home we bought. The total house renovation including remodeling two full baths, one 1/2 bath, new hardwood floors on main level, removal of 2 interior walls to open up space, installed kitchen cabinets, floor, counter-tops; porcelain tile, tubs, new shower and cabinets in bathrooms. Rob also replaced a small deck with a beautiful screened-in porch and replaced rotted exterior wood trim with vinyl trim, painted everything inside and outside. We also had our crawlspace encapsulated by Rob to eliminate any future moisture issues, keep clean fresh air circulating and save on energy costs. Each renovation experience using Rob and his well vetted teams has exceeded our expectations. Rob is very professional and easy to work with. He takes time upfront to understand just what we have in mind, and made recommendations that greatly improved on our ideas! He communicated with us daily, with updates on the progress and what to expect next. He worked closely with us on the design layout, provided resources for choosing all the materials, kept to his schedule and helped us stay within our budget. He takes great pride and it shows in his work. We just couldn't have been happier with the preparation, the work, the cleanup and best of all, the finished product. Our experience with North Carolina custom Construction was great! Once they got started on our project of finishing up the basement in a timely manner it has become our full time living space in our home. They worked with us on our plan very well giving us leeway to have it finished the way we wanted it to look. Highly recommend them!!
