Timothy P. McKenna

Timothy P. McKenna of Green Valley is a longtime environmental advocate and public health and safety and environmental regulation compliance specialist. Throughout his extensive career, Tim has been called upon to perform a broad range of duties, in a variety of settings and scenarios. As far as public health and safety and environmental regulations compliance is concerned, it is safe to say that Tim has seen and heard everything. Tim earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health Administration from Ferris State University. This education and the subsequent training he received provided to be instrumental in helping him develop the skills and knowledge he would need in order to carry out his tasks. This background proved to be especially useful in Tim’s work as a compliance specialist. In this position, his primarily responsibility is to ensure the compliance of businesses and individuals with public health and safety and environmental standards and regulations as established by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Tim’s extensive training has given him the skills and qualifications to work in such areas as asbestos inspection, landfill analysis, and water treatment facility monitoring. He is especially qualified to deal with scenarios in which asbestos poses a serious health concern, having served as a certified education institute inspector in this very field. In this role, Tim’s main task involves enforcing EPA standards and regulations pertaining to public safety. Early on in his career, Tim’s extensive skillset–as well as his tenacity and commitment–were put to the test. His role as compliance enforcer placed him in the position of inspecting and evaluating inactive landfills and illegal dumpsites, many of which were operated by large corporations and business organizations. Tim’s work often placed him in direct conflict with these powerful entities, and he has even faced threats to person and property on occasion. But Tim was not a man who would give up a just cause, and he employed every ounce of his integrity and tenacity in recording valuable data from these sites and publishing them in a series of reports released to the public. With his efforts, Tim managed to bring widespread public attention to the health, safety, and environmental threats posed by these illegal dumpsites and abandoned landfills.
