We had the same dilemma. Our thought process was - that a shower alone will be more convenient to us, but for resale value it might make a difference if there is no tub. Its hard for me to give advise on that, all I can say is that we decided to eliminate the tub and are going with a super fun spa/shower.

Putting in just a shower will make it feel bigger and work for you if you never take baths. The only thing to consider is for resale, most people with small children will not like a house with no bath in it at all.

You can get a much deeper tub like a soaker and still have the shower , I would never buy a place without a tub so I am partial to the combo.

Thanks all, I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I have been looking at deeper 60 x 30 alcove tubs in case we go that route. So far, I've compiled the Jacuzzi Linea and Maxx Rubix as they are taller and have a more contemporary look.

Are both options relatively the same in price?

a shower would give you the most space. no need for a tub if its just going to take up space.
