Privacy for what?

Don't do a double door. To me they are a 1995 Mac-mansion look and they rarely look appropriate on most homes. I would do a 42" wide door with 2 sidelites.

There’s a lot of space between the front door and the family room sofa, so privacy shouldn’t be too much of a concern for that. Will the double front door be all glass? How close is the house to the street? Do people pass by a lot? My tv chair is in view of the front door with glass sidelights, and it has made me jump a couple of times to hear the doorbell. But the distance from the door to my chair is only probably 15’.

Beyond that, you might put on a thick skin and post the plan in the Building a Home forum. That possible wall may be the least of your concerns.

You could have the front door glass frosted.

my back porch door and front door are in line as well. . We have privacy glass on front door, clear on back door. Delivery people can’t see in through house that way.
