We had a great experience with Richard Landon Design. We started our journey in May of 2021, and Richard was with us the entire way through; we finished our project in October 2023. There are so many wonderful details Richard designed into the new space, details that are useful and beautiful to look at. His suggestions about each space made them warmer and more practical. Richard Landon was our designer when we remodeled our kitchen and downstairs in 2014. Interior walls were removed, windows added, and light now floods our previously dark house. His innovative design captured my personality and enables viewing of the gardens and the surrounding forest from my kitchen work areas. I can now chop, sauté, and wash the dishes while watching the grandkids play in the yard. When we decided to update the master bath last year, I contacted Richard for design assistance. The bathroom had some awkward angles, and I knew Richard would devise an imaginative solution. Our budget was tight, but once again he wowed me with his creative design. The bathroom is stunning; the awkward angles transformed into artistic angles, and mood lighting creates a peaceful spa environment. (Of course, the lighting changes to fuchsia when my grand daughter takes a bath.) Richard has a truly innovative approach to design. He is easy to work with, exceptionally pleasant, and listens patiently to your ideas to create a space that reflects your unique personality.

Richard did the design for our major remodel and we could not be happier. He has a gift for seeing how to make the most of whatever amount of space you have to work with. We did not realize how limited our vision was for remodeling our home until Richard painted a picture of what it could be. We did not change the footprint of our home but it feels twice as large, more open and with a much better flow between living areas. In addition to the major improvements to our floor plan, we also enjoy the detailed practical elements that Richard recommended that make daily activities easier or more enjoyable - e.g. deeper counters/cabinets, better sink design, lighting, storage, etc. We also appreciated Richard's professional approach. His first advice to us was to "stick with the process" and he was extremely patient as we often took much time to make decisions (or change our minds!). He had a clear vision and knew what we would like even when we didn't know it ourselves.

Rarely have I met someone more creative and attentive to detail than Richard Landon. He skillfully translated ideas into clear professional graphics. Richards design transformed our small kitchen into and exciting place to cook. If the installation of a custom feature needed guidance, Richard was quick to respond. Want to fulfill a dream; transform your space; expand your boundaries? Richard Landon is your guy! He’s designed two projects for me, one turning a dated, tired bathroom into a bathing oasis, and the other, transforming space by a total wall removal. He is a strong co-creative visionary, who helped me see hidden potential in a small condo. On a practical level, he is a cabinetry genius. His designs eke out and leverage the most out of any space, such as transforming a hallway into cabinets or adding depth to a drawer by extending it into wasted space. He’s expensive, but he is amazing!

Richard is the BEST! He saw my job, had a vision I loved and has helped me along the way and my kitchen is beautiful. Because of Richards extensive knowledge and innovative ideas my kitchen transformation has been a wonderful experience. I am lucky to have found Richard!

Great design insights on our complex kitchen remodel. We ended up with a thoughtful layout with beautiful design and materials. We used red birch cabinets from Aristocratic Cabinets and premium Rainforest Green countertops, with Black Falcon on the wine/coffee bar from Denali Stoneworks. All cabinets included custom storage to our needs, chef drawer, and custom pantry. This project involved removing a load bearing wall and adding larger windows and custom sliding door up to the ceiling to bring the view in. All of Mr Landon's projects are beautiful and unique. We love our kitchen!

Frankly folks, my husband and I would award Richard 10 stars. His abilities to take a flawed project and turn the design into magic - within the scope of doable execution - is unparalleled. We happened upon Richard and engaged with him for our lighting design yet very quickly used his extensive knowledge of all things design to save our forever home from being a dud - starting with adding a portico to the home design and "correcting" the window sizes and placements - and much more. He is able to deftly tune in to a client's aesthetics and provide excellent guidance and advice with solutions and designs that are outstanding, innovative and verging on genius. Richard is a very unique talent and exceedingly resourceful. And while a very busy professional, he will do his best to adhere to a client's schedule or, minimally, respond and let you know where he is with other projects and when he can. Richard Landon Design worked with us on the remodel of our mid-century ranch home into a fully redesigned, 2 story, modern. Our journey with Richard began when we consulted with him on a design for a kitchen remodel. On our initial meeting, Richard evoked from us our full set of design needs. Richard listens well and always says that all information is good. He listened al lot. We are now living in our fully remodel home and look around daily in wonder and delight. I can't say enough great things about Richard and his designs. He took an ordinary 1984 home in Redmond and transformed it in ways no other build and design firms had even imagined. (and we interviewed nearly a dozen top firms in Puget Sound) He truly thinks in multiple dimensions and creates a space that felt elegant yet very inviting and comfortable. This is done after spending time with you to clearly understand all dynamics of the family - and then incorporating multiple clever touches for everyone. I sold my home last year (3 days and multiple offers) and know that it was due to Richards' Re-design of my home- just wish we'd done it sooner.

We originally planned to remodel just our kitchen, but with Richard's insight we ended up with not only a beautiful kitchen, but a mud room and brand new bonus room above our garage as well. He was easy to work with and could really see the potential upon the first site visit. Richard truly spent the time to discover what we envisioned for the space, and then incorporated our requests into his plan to create an extremely functional and refreshing kitchen. It's open, bright, uncluttered, perfect for entertaining and has that outdoor feeling we didn't know we were looking for. He really paid attention to all the fine details and gave us the maximum drawer and counter space possible. As for the bonus room, Richard could instantly see that by changing the beam structure of the roof he could create an entirely new space. By adding that extra storage area and moving our laundry, the functionality of our home vastly improved. Furthermore, Richard found us the builder and worked with him throughout the project to ensure the highest standards were met. He always promptly returned our calls and willingly worked with us through our hesitations and concerns. I would readily hire him again for any future project should they arise.

Richard did a fantasitc job of transforming my 60's rambler into a beautiful contemporary floor plan with great traffic flow, The open floor plan now provides a great place to entertain friends as well as a very ussable floor plan for every day living. Richard did an on site evaluation of our house and continued with design services and implementation. He assisted in choosing a local contractor and interacted well with him throughout the project. We began with renovating the kitchen but ended up moving walls, creating new space from the garage, adding a semi-ocular to the second floor, renovating the master bath and replacing several crucial windows. Richard advised us on selection of appliances, windows, flooring, and finishes. As in all projects of this magnitude, there were bumps along the way but nothing insurmountable. Everything was finished in a timely manner. Richard opened up our home's interior to take advantage of the lovely views and to create "light paths" both upstairs and down. We love our home and acknowledge that Richard helped create this wonder place which we, at times, are reluctant to leave.

We originally hired Richard to design a kitchen for us in a home that we were renovating and extending. We have a large extended family and love to entertain. He ended up designing the entire house, which is an absolutely fantastic place to live and to entertain in. he listened carefully to our needs and desires and came up with a design that was more than we would ever have imagined. His attention to detail, use of space, quality materials and particularly to the "flow" of a house, makes him the award winning designer that he is. Some of our favorite details are-a"scullery" (a kitchen within a kitchen) that keeps the preparation mess out of sight, behind glass doors, when entertaining; the curved raised counter in the kitchen and the angled bar in the family room both allowing for seating that is friendly to conversation; the use of every available space for kitchen storage including unique corner pullouts and extra long lower cabinet drawers; and a very large outdoor covered deck with heaters in the ceiling and a fireplace, perfect for living in the North West, to name a few. Best of all, he made sure to take advantage of the most spectacular 270 degree mountain views that we have. Richard was very patient with us, was always prompt, returned calls quickly, and worked well with the employees of the other contractor. He was always on schedule with the deadlines that the major contractor had for the house project. As for the budget, he was always upfront and honest about it. Much of it depended on our choices. He helped to steer us to where the best investment would be in the decision making process. We appreciate Richard's talents very much and it was a pleasure to work with him!

I have worked with Richard for 14 years. He is a consummate professional with more ideas than time in a day but has the ability to focus in on the customers needs and budget. Common sense, detail orientated, focused on functionality and live-ability, price conscientious are some of his qualities. Part relationship counselor, part artist, part architect, part designer Richard Landon applied his more that 30 years of knowledge and experience to help guide me in a complete renovation of my house. It ended up taking 5 years, but Richard was there every step of the way to read me and guide me to achieving my vision. His advice was often invaluable, and in many cases saving me money by applying my budget where it would be most valuable. Along the way I removed 2 huge brick chimneys and two first floor walls to open up the floor plan and for the first time let light into the living area of the house, especially combined with the significant increase in the Western facing glass doors and windows. Upstairs the bedroom and bathroom were switched, thus also putting the bathroom on the sunny side of the house. All this was able to be accomplished by being able to convert my current footprint into a CAD based plan that was easily to be updated and changed during the process. As the project progressed each additional layer of changes was able to added and adjusted, and this capability was one of the most valuable contributions. Water, gas, electric, insulation, roofing, flooring were all replaced, and Richard's guidance helped steer me with the million decisions that had to be made along the way. He knows what the various possibilities are, what materials it will take, and who and how to make it happen. Richard is an intelligent and forward thinking designer who worked with my wife and I on the construction of our new house. His concepts are based in reality, tight, multi layered, and have proven to be the solution we wanted in our total house cabinetry, mill work and over space utilization. We contacted Richard Landon to discuss a possible kitchen remodel because we had worked with him on a previous kitchen remodel 25 years ago in a different home and found that he worked "from scratch", looking at a space and how it could best be used rather than looking at what cabinets were available and how they could be fit into the space. He came up with a plan both then and now that was a complete surprise, an excellent use of the space available that also accommodated some of my physical limitations and made the most of things like the existing skylight, adding unexpected features such as an amazing pantry that seems to enchant most of the family and friends who want to wander through our kitchen, new French doors from our family room (adjacent to kitchen) to our deck that brought in so much light it seems like a new room; working around my dislike of huge fan hoods over the stove top, and providing wonderful storage everywhere. He has a real eye for details and rarely misses even small things, ordering cabinets to the specifications that work in your room, your needs. His knowledge is extensive, and he even went so far as offering to meet us at a store specializing in cabinet hardware when it was time to choose that; we ended up with something totally different from what we expected to purchase because he showed us something else to consider when we selected drawer handles. We asked if he had any contractors to recommend to us; we hired the contractor he recommended and that was also a great decision--they also did outstanding work! We don't expect to do anymore kitchen remodels, but would need to be working with Richard if we did.

We love working with Richard and have hired him to consult for us on a variety of jobs over the years. My husband and I like to consider ourselves amateur design enthusiasts, so we are extremely hands-on and discerning when it comes to working with professionals. Over the years, Richard has consistently exceeded our expectations and contributed immensely to the quality of our renovations. He is a genius when it comes to re-imagining space, no matter how constrained, to maximize functionality. We originally hired Richard to do the design for what started as a kitchen remodel, and ended up as a downstairs remodel. The result of his work was exceptional. He was able to blend our personal lifestyle and interests with solid design concepts. The result was a remodel that was very personal, beautiful and functional. Addition value added services from Richard were: 1) the ability to understand construction, 2) broad and deep knowledge of various materials, appliances, etc. (he really keeps up with what is available in the market place), 3) he was able to involve our children and 4) and for us he served like a "marriage counselor". Richard work closely with our general contractor during the entire (complete) remolding of our home. Richard was completely responsible for the entire interior layout, kitchen design, pantry design, bathrooms (including hardware) ,all cabinetry (including hardware), all counter tops (including custom decorative concrete counter tops), all interior and exterior decorative details, and paint, wall paper, and art features for the both the interior and exterior of the house. Richard help us make decisions that resulted with a remolding project that reflected our original desires. Richard worked well with vendors, subcontractors, and the general contractor. He stayed on schedule and was always cognizant of budgetary constraints.
