I'd go with a darker wood tone...not black or espresso but darker than your cabinets...maybe gunstock? Pretty kitchen by the way:)

I think tile would work better since it'll be almost impossible to come close to what looks like wood in the dining area.. Pretty kitchen BTW.

Thank you! I feel like i have to do wood because the kitchen is moves right into a great room on the other side that I want to finish with wood floors (and it has to be redone soon). I know you are right about the darker dining room floor but I was hoping maybe to use a lighter wood in the kitchen, but have a border with the darker wood to help transition it. And I realize that the picture shows pretty accurately the color of the cabinets, but the granite is more golden than gray. Thank you for your comments. I just moved into this house and there are many decisions to be made! I love this site.

Gunstock wood floors would be a nice contrast and would blend well with maple and granite countertops.
