Client opted for a sleek black modern-look for his peninsula aquarium. Built to hold the weight of half a ton of water, this stand also acts as a space divider between dining and living rooms without blocking the light in this small condominium. Doors on all sides, including top open up for full access. (Reef aquarium keepers need lots of room for all their gadgets and accessories!) Finish: Benjamin Moore Advance in 2132-10

A unit in walnut and bronze acts to create a study. Lacquered shutters were fixed to the back of the unit so that the study can be screened off from the living area when desired.

NEE Fireplaces
The Room Divider is a striking eye-catching
fire for your home.
The connecting point for the Room Divider’s flue gas outlet is off-centre. This means that the concentric channel can be concealed in the rear wall, so that the top of the fireplace can be left open to give a spacious effect and the flame is visible, directly from the rear wall.

Tile Desire
ON-TREND SCALES
Move over metro tiles and line a wall with fabulously funky Fish Scale designs. Also known as scallop, fun or mermaid tiles, this pleasing-to-the-eye shape is a Moroccan tile classic that's trending hard right now and offers a sophisticated alternative to metro/subway designs. Mermaids tiles are this year's unicorns (so they say) and Fish Scale tiles are how to take the trend to a far more grown-up level. Especially striking across a whole wall or in a shower room, make the surface pop in vivid shades of blue and green for an oceanic vibe that'll refresh and invigorate.
If colour doesn't float your boat, just exchange the bold hues for neutral shades and use a dark grout to highlight the pattern. Alternatively, go to www.tiledesire.com there are more than 40 colours to choose and mix!!

Salt Interiors
Salt Interiors custom joinery was featured in the August issue of House & Garden Magazine. For this project, Salt Interiors worked with Senior Interior Designer for Coco Republic, Natasha Levak to provide custom joinery for the 1930s Spanish-revival home. Levak’s vision for a neutral palette helped to determine the polyurethane paint for the renovated joinery unit Salt installed in the room.

Beautiful open plan kitchen, dining, sitting room with freshwater aquarium. Fantastic views of the 100ft garden through glass bi-folding glass doors; personal gallery featuring favourite places and family photos; colour scheme is cleverly linked across the entire space even down to the colour of the fish. Rustic timber floor contrasts really well with gloss lacquer cabinetry.

We designed this family room with an Asian interpretation. Jade/sage green, espresso trims, paper lantern style lighting, cherrywood hardwood floors.
We built this custom 200 gallon fish tank bar with a slate top and inset bar.
Note the slate indoor waterfall in the background.
Cathleen Rae Interior Design
This was an interesting project because the two owners had such different styles. In this room, the husband was attracted to clean lines, simplicity, neutral colors and a more modern style. The fish tank became the place to add color. The wife has a more eclectic, colorful, playful style which is reflected in the adjoining space with the red antique horse puppet and large painting. The dining table in this space was somewhere between their two preferred styles and the chairs are very comfortable.
