This client felt lost as far as design and selection. She'd already received my counsel regarding refinishing and the color of her kitchen cabinets. When she reached out to me again to assist with organizing her home and suggesting a few new pieces I was elated. A majority of the project consisted of relocating existing furniture and accessories as well as purging items that didn't work well with the design style. The guest room was transformed when we painted a lovely green color over the orange walls. The room that saw the most change was the dining room as it got all new furniture, a rug and wall color. I'm so thankful to know that this project is greatly loved. Photos by Barrett Woodward of Showcase Photographers

The Old and Historic District Board of Architectural Review passes on the appropriateness of changes to exterior architectural features of the buildings subject to public view within the Old and Historic District. Being that this house fell within their jurisdiction we spent a significant period of time meeting with their staff on site, researching period design elements, creating detailed drawings, and completing an extensive proposal. Once all completed we went before the BAR at a public hearing and presented our project, which was accepted and construction could finally begin.
Products we used:
Outdoor light fixture is French Quarter 18” Original bracket GAS by BEVOLO in an antique finish. Custom house numbers from Nola Transoms (www.nolatransoms.com).

The front entrance of this house was updated by replacing the too-small fluted round columns with much more proportional square columns, and the previous dated off-white trim color was changed to a taupe green to better accentuate the brick & the lush landscaping. New mahogany French doors also transformed the entrance, as did a new hanging copper lantern with yoke. Finishing the front planters with tall mandevilla also played off the scale of the porch nicely.

A swoop standing seam metal roof and a larger front porch were added. Existing windows were replaced with larger more traditional windows. The eyebrow roofs at the left and right ends of the house were raised, given more definition, and topped by standing seam metal roofs. A layer of mortar was applied to the existing brick giving it a cleaner whitewash look.

This beautiful homes exterior looked great. Front doors were a bit weathered so we decided to change the color and paint doors black. While the doors were being painted we decided to paint all the exterior lights too. They looked brand new when they were put back up!
