Before Siemasko + Verbridge got their hands on this house, it was a convoluted maze of small rooms and skinny hallways. The renovation made sense of the layout, and took full advantage of the captivating ocean views. The result is a harmonious blend of contemporary style with classic and sophisticated elements. The “empty nest” home is transformed into a welcoming sanctuary for the extended family of kids and grandkids.

Winner of "HOME OF THE YEAR 2016" San Diego Home and Garden Lifestyles Magazine featuring this great contemporary kitchen remodel in An Irving Gill renovation near Balboa Park stays true to its historic essence.
More about the project.
This young couple has a creative back ground, one being an actor and the other being a teacher who inspires others. They now enjoy a new historical home with amazing touches of modern styling and comforts. The home was designed by renowned architect Irving Gill in 1905 and is on the historical register but it only applies to the exterior of the home. The brick pillar is an original feature from the home's turn-of-the-century stove. The window casings were built to replicate the original Douglas Fir windows as seen on Gill's original plans, and all the molding was redone in his signature flush style as well. The central feature in this kitchen is the Yellow Italian Bertazzoni Range with a single herringbone tiled back splash. The cabinetry is a light gray paired perfectly with a dark "graphite" gray island, and industrial vents at the toe kick enhance the overall look.

This kitchen pays tribute to the École des Beaux Arts, which were a collection of influential arts schools in France. The origins of the school date back to the 1600’s and since then have trained many of Europe’s greatest artists.
In contrast to the freedom of mixing elements stylistically, there is a strict requirement to design in this style using symmetry. There are exact symmetrical relationships in all aspects of the design; the sink wall is mirrored from its center line, the ‘wedding cabinet’ is symmetrical on both sides despite very different functionality, the range wall ‘bridge’ in drywall, reflects the form of the base bridges on the sink wall.
The room itself was sculpted (the wall between the dining room and kitchen was moved 11”) to accommodate the design requirements. Additionally, that same wall was furred by 1” to ensure exact symmetry around the window.
The Sub Zero 700 Series Fridge/Freezer combination is cleanly integrated into the “Chinese Wedding Cabinet”. The left side of the cabinet accommodates the coffee system and speed oven. The entire unit is recessed into the wall providing the essential clearance required around the island. The Wolf 36” dual fuel range is a perfect companion to this kitchen. The professional quality is a perfect compliment (in juxtaposition) to the sleek range hood and integrated design of the range wall. Here again, the wall behind was “niched” in order to achieve these unique details.
There are many notable and unique features and design elements in this kitchen. Marble countertops harmonize with the custom crafted mosaic top for the island. White cabinets are softened with the use of green cabinets on the island and dish pantry. The dish pantry features Jab cloth glass doors to reduce transparency and the lighting above. Sliding marble panels hide essential cooking storage on each side of the range. There are niches carved into the wall beside the range and on the sink wall, these accommodate small appliances. The sink becomes a workstation with its built-in drain boards on each side. A pocket door hides the coffee system and microwave when not in use and completes the design of the Chinese wedding cabinet. Eclectic lighting fixtures complete this room for a unique and personalized space.

At more than 500 years old, this historic forge in the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside, has been lovingly converted into a stunning family home. The kitchen was designed by Peter Humphrey, Design Director of Humphrey Munson, and handcrafted by our team of cabinetmakers at our workshop in Felsted, Essex.
With windows on two sides as well as bi-folding glass doors the full length of the kitchen, the space is light, airy and welcoming. The kitchen is from the Nickleby range, a simple and understated design perfect for modern living. The neutral colour palette gives the kitchen a really calm, tranquil and uncomplicated feel.
The worktops (including the island) are Amazon Suede – a new extra-matt finish by Silestone which has a more intense colour and a much more efficient performance against stains, marks and fingerprints. It’s a natural quartz surface treated and is brown in colour with darker shades of brown flecks. It also has the anti-bacterial protection exclusive to Silestone.
The sink area looks out across the front of the home and has an IO mixer tap in chrome by Perrin & Rowe, a boiling hot water tap and a double butler ceramic Deerfield sink by Kohler. Cooking appliances include the Britannia Delphi range cooker and Siemens Microwave oven. Refrigeration is by Liebherr and includes a fridge and freezer with ice maker, both of which are integrated behind Nickleby pantry style doors. The wine fridge by CDA provides excellent wine preservation and is integrated into the kitchen island. The Miele dishwasher is also integrated behind a Nickleby door and situated just underneath the sink run for maximum convenience and ease when clearing away dishes after a meal.

This large kitchen in a converted schoolhouse needed an unusual approach. The owners wanted an eclectic look – using a diverse range of styles, shapes, sizes, colours and finishes.
The final result speaks for itself – an amazing, quirky and edgy design. From the black sink unit with its ornate mouldings to the oak and beech butcher’s block, from the blue and cream solid wood cupboards with a mix of granite and wooden worktops to the more subtle free-standing furniture in the utility.

A captivating transformation in the coveted neighborhood of University Park, Dallas
The heart of this home lies in the kitchen, where we embarked on a design endeavor that would leave anyone speechless. By opening up the main kitchen wall, we created a magnificent window system that floods the space with natural light and offers a breathtaking view of the picturesque surroundings. Suspended from the ceiling, a steel-framed marble vent hood floats a few inches from the window, showcasing a mesmerizing Lilac Marble. The same marble is skillfully applied to the backsplash and island, featuring a bold combination of color and pattern that exudes elegance.
Adding to the kitchen's allure is the Italian range, which not only serves as a showstopper but offers robust culinary features for even the savviest of cooks. However, the true masterpiece of the kitchen lies in the honed reeded marble-faced island. Each marble strip was meticulously cut and crafted by artisans to achieve a half-rounded profile, resulting in an island that is nothing short of breathtaking. This intricate process took several months, but the end result speaks for itself.
To complement the grandeur of the kitchen, we designed a combination of stain-grade and paint-grade cabinets in a thin raised panel door style. This choice adds an elegant yet simple look to the overall design. Inside each cabinet and drawer, custom interiors were meticulously designed to provide maximum functionality and organization for the day-to-day cooking activities. A vintage Turkish runner dating back to the 1960s, evokes a sense of history and character.
The breakfast nook boasts a stunning, vivid, and colorful artwork created by one of Dallas' top artist, Kyle Steed, who is revered for his mastery of his craft. Some of our favorite art pieces from the inspiring Haylee Yale grace the coffee station and media console, adding the perfect moment to pause and loose yourself in the story of her art.
The project extends beyond the kitchen into the living room, where the family's changing needs and growing children demanded a new design approach. Accommodating their new lifestyle, we incorporated a large sectional for family bonding moments while watching TV. The living room now boasts bolder colors, striking artwork a coffered accent wall, and cayenne velvet curtains that create an inviting atmosphere. Completing the room is a custom 22' x 15' rug, adding warmth and comfort to the space. A hidden coat closet door integrated into the feature wall adds an element of surprise and functionality.
This project is not just about aesthetics; it's about pushing the boundaries of design and showcasing the possibilities. By curating an out-of-the-box approach, we bring texture and depth to the space, employing different materials and original applications. The layered design achieved through repeated use of the same material in various forms, shapes, and locations demonstrates that unexpected elements can create breathtaking results.
The reason behind this redesign and remodel was the homeowners' desire to have a kitchen that not only provided functionality but also served as a beautiful backdrop to their cherished family moments. The previous kitchen lacked the "wow" factor they desired, prompting them to seek our expertise in creating a space that would be a source of joy and inspiration.
Inspired by well-curated European vignettes, sculptural elements, clean lines, and a natural color scheme with pops of color, this design reflects an elegant organic modern style. Mixing metals, contrasting textures, and utilizing clean lines were key elements in achieving the desired aesthetic. The living room introduces bolder moments and a carefully chosen color scheme that adds character and personality.
The client's must-haves were clear: they wanted a show stopping centerpiece for their home, enhanced natural light in the kitchen, and a design that reflected their family's dynamic. With the transformation of the range wall into a wall of windows, we fulfilled their desire for abundant natural light and breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
Our favorite rooms and design elements are numerous, but the kitchen remains a standout feature. The painstaking process of hand-cutting and crafting each reeded panel in the island to match the marble's veining resulted in a labor of love that emanates warmth and hospitality to all who enter.
In conclusion, this tastefully lux project in University Park, Dallas is an extraordinary example of a full gut remodel that has surpassed all expectations. The meticulous attention to detail, the masterful use of materials, and the seamless blend of functionality and aesthetics create an unforgettable space. It serves as a testament to the power of design and the transformative impact it can have on a home and its inhabitants.
