I'm not sure which countertop to go with between two options.. Not permanently staying in this home. I like the brightness of the wood, but not the variation in it, along with a few knots. Not going for a "country" look. Sorry. The other counter is laminate and looks like doo-doo brown (lol), but these are really the only affordable choices I have. I don't want to special order anything since I'll be moving. Any opinions are much appreciated. (The tiles in the images attached are the tiles I'm using.) Everything was changed due to a water leak. Also, I'm changing the lights to brushed stainless and adding some cans. Sorry if this is confusing. Trust me I'm confused myself. I think next time I'll ask the houzzers in the beginning. :) Pictures with both lights on and off. Also, the peninsula is staying with the butcherblock. The light really effects the wall and countertop colors. I'm exhausted. :)

Tgb1... you've been busy, everything looks great. You have me itching...lol I would love a little grouping of mirrors (antique-ish gold)... maybe above my slider, or peeking out from behind my tree in the morning room... I think it would be so cute there. But... that is just my thought..haha Could look like poo... haha :D

You remember my little mirrors I had in the back room at the other place? lol Margo wanted those gone... haha I still have them, could always leaf them... ???

Toby is adorable as always ... thanks for that pic. <3

Now... let's talk about those trunks... I love those!!!! <3

I cursed a few times doing them... painting all those feathers, and the fun of inhaling a feather fluff...lol, but I'd love to tackle a largescale piece.

zaz, all those mirrors are beautiful. That chandelier is candy for the eye..you are tempting me to get one for the bedroom even though I decided against it (we have a chandelier in the seating area, but the bed area has tray ceiling and we have recessed lights only)

LOL, floor mirror:) yeah, I've heard that idea..men:)) I will get one, but for the seating area so I can use it when I need to get dressed and nothing else:)

Printesa, thank you for your opinion and for sharing all the ideas...appreciate your time doing that for me. <3

I think this mirror is pretty... Erin has posted similar, and I always loved them.

I think you are right about hanging them... I could still attach to the wall with them resting... but that would take up needed space...haha esp for me. :D

I do see that the rectangular looks nice, so thanks for sharing. :)

    Lol Printesa, I know... seriously...haha

That would look pretty in a seating area...and I really do need something for dressing... maybe even on the back of my bathroom door..or prob closet is better... but something nice looking. Right now,... I use my reflection in my shower doors. LOL

The chandelier ... they are so pretty and I miss that crystal sparkle... but I also love the sound of the capiz.... it's amazing to hear, esp with all the airflow we get.

Tiff, no worries on the mirror reflection... my bath door is to the side of the bed...so they will either reflect plants...or into the living space... facing out of my room... and lol more plants. haha

I’m glad to hear you are healing Happy. It always takes more time as we get older.Gls that’s a gorgeous shower well done! It’s the one thing that needs to happen in this house and it isn’t going to. I have to go with the British tub and shower system. and mine needs a serious upgrade.

Zaz did I miss a painting post? I’m not seeing it.

Agree once you get the mirrors you may not need the delicate garland… or you might put a garland on each mirror?

I think tall and narrow is going to be the most practical but you don’t want it to look too heavy.

Very nice look on your shower. Great space in the closet. How long before you have it filled?? My flat spaces go quickly here.

In this house I was going to keep the tub in the downstairs guest room, instead of tearing it out. But now I think a shower will be more practical downstairs for a quick shower after coming in from the yard work. My downstairs tub is so shallow and short it is kind of pointless. I can only get wet up to my hips. LOL. GL your shower makes the room look much larger.

WOW I bought an inexpensive Sunbeam Toaster with wide slots. OMG the thing is great. I can put in large Brioche buns, thick bread and hot dog buns. So handy. Should have got one a lot sooner.

Tiffany, we now have 2 showers and no tubs here in the condo. We took out the tub and put in a walk-in shower in the guest bath for my mom. She spent winters with us. She stopped coming down when she was 87, and lived until age 96 1/2. Our lake house still has the tub/shower in the guest bath. We remove the jetted tub in the primary bath about 4 1/2 yrs ago. That walk-in shower is done in tile, as compared to the new acrylic shower on the condo.

Well I had a little visitor in my bed this morning and it wasn't my cat! It's been three weeks since my last vacuuming and cleaning in the room other than vacuuming every week in the room but I'm talking about like under the bed and all corners and on my leg cuz my hand got a little itchy and I itched it and so it must have been the spider that you could barely feel on your arm cuz my alarm clock ring and I pulled the covers back sat up in bed was going to pull off my socks cuz we had 40° last night and there it was on my thigh black little bit bigger than the pinky fingernail if you have them short and I brushed it off with my hand and screamed and I looked on the carpet in front of me and it wasn't on the carpet so it wasn't a fuzzy that at all from the blanket or anything so I'm a little creeped out again how am I going to sleep I checked my bed every night I spray down the vent that I can reach I don't want to get on the floor and crawl practically under the bed I can't handle that oh I hate this house! Oh isn't going to be happy about helping me clean again cuz I don't know where it's coming from must be coming up the vent but the furnace was on last night I guess I'll have to spray in the bedroom but I hate stinky stuff I like pretty smells and I can't spray my lavender water on the wall it has some alcohol in it it came from Grove

  • happyleg

I had a spider free night even though I don't feel the spider on me it moves like an eyelash! It's black and maybe even furry I can't see I do a lot of screaming! The bedroom's been sprayed but now I quite don't smell the scent so much when I wake up so I hope it still keeps them away cuz it's called Seventh Generation

  • happyleg

I think I like to have a different bed though so it won't have so many cubby spots and maybe I can see if there's a spider I look with the flashlight the best I can I don't want to get too close but oh will have a cow once I almost bought a vintage bed or the look of a vintage bed it was metal and it was like pewter and I loved it and it back then it was king size it would have taken over pretty much of my room left a couple feet on each side like the king size waterbed we had but o h wouldn't have nothing to do with it he was with me he said no I like the bookcase bed then I bought he talked me into this other bookcase bed and it's a queen but I'm really never loved it they wouldn't let me return it or make an exchange so I just stuck with it now I'm hating it because of the spider but I know we still need to get rid of some more stuff on top of the closet is up by my Frosted windows but once my daughter's lamp that I was keeping and then there's a box of Avon jewelry and couple lamps are up there three actually and big wonky big speakers did not really wonky but I call them that cuz they're huge and they take up the corner of the top of the closet and that's where the web was

  • Alice Edwards

Happy you may be able to take the frame off the bookcase part and just get an open metal frame. It’s bookcase at the head?

  • happyleg

Yes it is but it's a cheap wood bed I didn't know it was that cheap and I bought it and they would not let me exchange it or return it so stuck with it and I like the bookcase part sort of but it's cheap and are other bookcase bed was much better but it went in the other bedroom and the legs were where the spider was in this current bed

Peppermint oil or even Vicks on cotton balls. Keep bedding OFF floor. Mint essential oil diffusers…you need to repel, not just kill.

  • happyleg
    yesterday

Thanks Leah but for days now spider free but I can't sleep without my Pink lamp on LOL and ever since it was on my thigh and I was using peppermint oil the spray that's a bug spray has peppermint oil in it I had peppermint in my hair two it stayed off my face at least in my hair but on Saturday night usually I don't have peppermint in my hair because I have washed it and put the setting curling gel in my hair that conditions the hair and when it dries it looks nice

Ladies, I just heard a great interview with Dr. Lynn Laferty, a Professor, Herbalist, Naturopath & Pharmasist. She is a doctor who also specializes in understanding the body and natural & conventional treatments, everything from what was done and what is being done. It was because of her previous interview, and a very strong intuition, that I opted not to fill my first Cholesterol Rx a while back. I am glad I did because my latest blood test showed that I have no more need for the medicine and my good and bad LDL are just fine. I have no clue why it righted itself. Ahh my intuition never fails me.

The link to her interview is above if you are interested -- its 2 hours. From there you can see her website should you choose. She offers a course in Becoming your own Health Investigator, which is a 10 session course about 2 hrs each and the course material is available afterwards as well.

I love that she uses a lot of natural foods and was "old school" trained plus uses medical research and Test Studies for her recommendations.

Zaz, she has a section in the interview where she discusses painful women issues monthly issues. She discusses the use of Black Currant seed for your condition. You might find helpful or interesting.

Redpill78 often has great long interviews with call in questions from viewers at the end. He is a great interviewer and often has various medical specialists on his show. I've heard many great Medical Professionals on here.

Happy she recommends basil on your spider bites as well as some other things. Alice this woman is up your Daughters life-style

What are you doing differently that you weren't doing before Tiffany? Did she lose a bunch of weight or is it nutrition only?

  • tiffany66

Happy I gained weight when I had my torn hip and couldn't exercise much for a year. Since then I've worked on losing that weight, but slowly. I knew I had to drop the weight, so there would be less stress on my joints and ligaments. I wanted to be more mobile and weight loss was key to that. I never set out on a diet plan other to cut out Pepsi and after that I actually lost my interest for junk food. I just didn't bring it in the house so i didn't eat it and the desire for it went away.

There are no cookies, candy, chips, etc anywhere near me. But, if I get a taste for something, i will buy say a 4" piece of carot cake and eat it over 4-5 days to satisy that craving. Just knowing nothing is forbidden makes the difference. With that the weight was easy to come off. I eat a lot more protein than carbs and smaller meals. I literally have more energy than most people. In fact, this weekend i was up for 30 hrs straight working on paperwork on my computer. My intuition is really in tune with my health and I seem to sence what I need to do. I literally stronlgly knew the cholesterol Rx was not for me. I have know idea why I knew that.

  • printesa

Well said tiffany. If you drop the junk food, reduce the processed carbs, increase protein, and no snacking between meals, the weight comes done, the insulin resistance improves, inflammation goes down and everything is improving. If you cannot work out, going out for a walk is enough. Basically, look at the food pyramid and invert it if you want a healthy diet:)
