Structure Home
4,945 square foot two-story home, 6 bedrooms, 5 and ½ bathroom plus a secondary family room/teen room. The challenge for the design team of this beautiful New England Traditional home in Brentwood was to find the optimal design for a property with unique topography, the natural contour of this property has 12 feet of elevation fall from the front to the back of the property. Inspired by our client’s goal to create direct connection between the interior living areas and the exterior living spaces/gardens, the solution came with a gradual stepping down of the home design across the largest expanse of the property. With smaller incremental steps from the front property line to the entry door, an additional step down from the entry foyer, additional steps down from a raised exterior loggia and dining area to a slightly elevated lawn and pool area. This subtle approach accomplished a wonderful and fairly undetectable transition which presented a view of the yard immediately upon entry to the home with an expansive experience as one progresses to the rear family great room and morning room…both overlooking and making direct connection to a lush and magnificent yard. In addition, the steps down within the home created higher ceilings and expansive glass onto the yard area beyond the back of the structure. As you will see in the photographs of this home, the family area has a wonderful quality that really sets this home apart…a space that is grand and open, yet warm and comforting. A nice mixture of traditional Cape Cod, with some contemporary accents and a bold use of color…make this new home a bright, fun and comforting environment we are all very proud of. The design team for this home was Architect: P2 Design and Jill Wolff Interiors. Jill Wolff specified the interior finishes as well as furnishings, artwork and accessories.

J.P. Hoffman Design Build
We designed and built a 2-story, 2-stall garage addition on this Cape Cod style home in Westwood, MA. We removed the former breezeway and single-story, 2-stall garage and replaced it with a beautiful and functional design. We replaced the breezeway (which did not connect the garage and house) with a mudroom filled with space and storage (and a powder room) as well as the 2-stall garage and a main suite above. The main suite includes a large bedroom, walk-in closest (hint - those two small dormers you see) and a large main bathroom. Back on the first floor, we relocated a bathroom, renovated the kitchen and above all, improved form, flow and function between spaces. Our team also replaced the deck which offers a perfect combination of indoor/outdoor living.
Anchor Builders
The homeowners loved the location of their small Cape Cod home, but they didn't love its limited interior space. A 10' addition along the back of the home and a brand new 2nd story gave them just the space they needed. With a classy monotone exterior and a welcoming front porch, this remodel is a refined example of a transitional style home.

Red Level Renovations, LLC
True craftsman architectural details were returned to this home during its second story expansion. Outside, tapered square columns, under-eave brackets and new windows with transoms reflect the arts and craft style. Inside, classic craftsman columns partition rooms, elegant molding and dark hardwoods continue the period look.
Prior to adding the second story, Red Level raised the main level's ceiling height and reconfigured the layout to create room for a new staircase, piano room, spacious foyer and family room. The new second level now contains the home's media room with wet bar, three guest bedrooms and two baths.

Selected as the cover and featured story of a recent book on Country Swedish architecture, this one story Palo Alto home got a 2nd story addition, as well as a nearly complete makeover of the original structure. The search for authenticity led us to go to great lengths in order to accommodate the client's extensive Swedish antiques collection. The exterior walls were painted to match a Swedish king's famous summer palace with a paint we found in Australia with a high lye content, guaranteed to produce the patina of age in just a few years. In front of the house, a copse of birch trees were planted, and the residence is entered through a fairytale courtyard complete with a babbling brook.
Once inside the ancient round-top door, one finds the interior now organized by a series of arches, and walks on stone which was once the walls of a demolished French chateau. Further into the residence, stone gives way to pine plank flooring, reclaimed from logs found sunken in a Georgia swamp, so both gloriously old-growth, and ecologically green by virtue of having been reclaimed.
The owners' impressive antiques abound, enhanced by a new living room fireplace surround, hand-plastered just as it would be in a fine Swedish country home, and trimmed out by tiles hand-painted by a craftsman in Holland, in the style once popular in Sweden.
Up the new stairs, one finds a arch-top feature window, subtly obscured to prevent privacy issues with the neighbors, and plat-panelled newels we designed to mimic the country Swedish style. The upstairs features a subtly up-to-date home office with commanding views of the neighborhood, ,and a master bedroom featuring an antique bedstead centered under a ocular window which lets early morning light gently sweep through the space.

Located in a residential neighborhood in Cape Cod, this home is the perfect getaway for a family of four wanting to escape the city life of Boston. The four module home was set on an existing 28’ x 50’ foundation to utilize the existing structure and expedite the construction process. The new 2,775 sf home takes advantage of its natural surroundings with an exterior stair leading to an expansive roof deck where one can bask in the sun while in awe of the views overlooking both the bay and the ocean beyond.
This two-story double-wide typology is 2 boxes set on top of another 2 boxes with a single cut carved out to designate entry. To further expand the programmatic needs of the client and not the existing foundation, appendages of linear 2x2 cedar screens of living space, outdoor showers, balconies, and decks were added to the exterior. The house is clad in a contextual cedar shake siding and tied together with accents of gray cement board panels. With large expanses of glass and numerous operable windows the house takes advantages of summer breezes and blurs the division of interior and exterior. Furthermore, the exterior roof deck is complete with an exterior fireplace, creating the perfect setting to view the sunset and Salt Pond Bay beyond.
Furnished with maple cabinets and dark recycled quartzite countertops, the kitchen is open to the living and dining areas and visually connected to the exterior with sliding doors opening onto the rear deck. While open communal areas dominate the first floor, the second floor is composed of three bedrooms, two and half baths and a media room that is linked to the exterior staircase leading to the roof deck. The master bedroom suite features a cantilevered balcony and exterior shower along with an alcove for a desk and chair to act as a makeshift office.

A 400 square foot two-story addition and deck were tucked onto the back of his charming 1940’s 1-1/2 story colonial revival home, providing a new vaulted master bathroom and family room. The classic layout and character of the home were enhanced by remodeling the kitchen and opening it up to the new family room, which includes a wall of large windows overlooking the back yard.
