You do realize that extremely dark flooring is going to show all the dirt, and you're going to be spending your day cleaning the floor--unless you have a maid, and then she's going to be doing it. Go for a mid-tone flooring like the one below the black one for an easier floor to keep up.

Wood is harder to maintain in a kitchen, but that doesn't stop people from putting it in. If the tile is stone, it might be even more problematic due to spills and the risk of staining. In either case, a very high quality product with a penetrating sealer is the way to go. Another consideration is what you plan to use in the back area around the pantry, etc. Having one flooring flow through that area and into the kitchen, with the wood starting just past the working area of the kitchen and on into the great room and dining room, would look good.
